As part of their investment into the future of the school, the governors have earmarked for this year in excess of £10,000 to purchase IT equipment to replace the current computers and generally upgrading and improving ICT facilities at the school. To optimise the working of all the school computers, this needs to be accompanied by wireless networking which will cost in the region of £5,000.
David Kempster, one of the elected parent governors, together with a group of current and former parents – Darren Baker, Mike Denbigh, Sue Hart and Stuart Blakemore – are embarking on the 3 Peaks Challenge on the 20th & 21st June 2014, to raise money for this important cause which will directly benefit the current pupils of the school.
The 3 peaks challenge is an attempt to ascend the 3 highest peaks in England, Scotland & Wales (Scarfel Pike, Ben Nevis and Snowden) within 24 hours. This requires a high level of fitness to maintain sufficient pace with little or no sleep, as well as complex logistical arrangements for transport and rest between the treks.
If we can raise £2,500 this will be doubled by an extremely generous benefactor, whom has offered to match the monies raised by the school!
Please do your best to help the walkers raise as much as we can to provide the walkers with the best IT facilities and enhance their education.
